Family Self-Sufficiency Program Hosts Successful Homeownership Workshop for the Florence Community
Florence, SC - The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program of the Housing Authority of Florence (HAF) hosted a comprehensive Homeownership Workshop on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the Residential Services One Stop Shop. The event was co-sponsored by First Bank and the City of Florence.
The workshop brought together financial professionals, housing experts, and community partners to provide residents with the knowledge and tools needed to pursue successful homeownership. Designed to educate and empower families, the event covered every major step of the homebuying journey.
Workshop topics included:
- How to prepare financially for buying a home
- Understanding mortgages, interest rates, and loans
- Choosing the right home and neighborhood
- Home inspections, insurance, and the closing process
- How to build equity and long-term financial stability
- Open Q&A session with industry experts
Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with lenders, housing counselors, and real estate professionals who provided practical guidance and answered individual questions. The interactive format ensured participants left with actionable steps toward achieving their homeownership goals.
