FSS Participants Gain Firsthand Homebuying Experience During Home Buyer's Tour Workshop

Florence, SC -  On Thursday, March 12, 2026, the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program hosted an engaging and informative Home Buyer's Tour Workshop, providing participants with a valuable, hands-on introduction to the homebuying process.

Led by Joi Perkins of NorthGroup Real Estate, the workshop combined classroom-style instruction with an interactive home tour experience throughout Florence. Participants were guided through several homes, allowing them to see firsthand what to look for when searching for a property.

Each participant received a comprehensive Home Buyer's Guide workbook, offering detailed, step-by-step information covering the entire purchasing process-from start to finish. Ms. Perkins provided in-depth instruction on key topics including earnest money, home inspections, appraisals, down payments and closing costs. She also walked participants through the mortgage process, strategies for conducting home search, making offers, navigating negotiations, securing homeowner's insurance, and preparing for closing day.

Throughout the tour, Ms. Perkins actively engaged with participants, answering questions and offering practical insights as they explored each property. Her interactive approach helped 
participants better understand the realities of homeownership and empowered them with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions.

The FSS Home Buyer's Tour Workshop was a resounding success, equipping participants with essential tools and confidence as they work toward achieving their homeownership goals.
