Housing Authority of Florence Hosts "Building Momentum: What's Next in Your FSS Journey?" Workshop for Family Self-Sufficiency Participants
Florence, SC - December 10, 2025 - The Housing Authority of Florence Residential Services One Stop Shop successfully hosted its year-end Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) workshop titled "Building Momentum: What's Next in Your FSS Journey?", bringing together several FSS participants for an afternoon focused on goal-setting, personal growth, and preparing for a strong start to 2026.
The workshop opened with refreshments and a warm welcome, setting the tone for a reflective and engaging session. Participants began with an interactive activity, "One Win, One Wish," where they shared one personal achievement from the past year and one goal they hope to accomplish in 2026. This activity highlighted the resilience and progress of participating families while fostering a supportive community environment.
A central component of the workshop was a guided discussion prompting participants to reflect on their personal journeys:
- What steps have helped you reach this point?
- What barriers challenged you this year?
- What support or resources would help you continue making progress?
These conversations encouraged participants to acknowledge their accomplishments, identify areas for growth, and consider strategies to overcome future challenges.
Participants also developed personalized 2026 Momentum Maps, outlining their top goals for the coming year. Each map helped participants break down their goals into actionable steps, identify needed resources and determine who could support them-whether family, employers, or FSS staff. This exercise resulted in focused, realistic action plans that participants will carry forward into the new year.
The workshop concluded with a group wrap-up emphasizing encouragement, accountability, and the ongoing support available through the FSS team. "This workshop helps families reflect on their progress, set meaningful goals, and build momentum toward economic independence," said Vanessa Davis, Program Coordinator. We look forward to supporting their continued success in 2026."
