HCV Specialist
HCV Specialist Needed: The Housing Authority of Florence has a job opening for an HCV Specialist in the Rental Assistance Program. As a Housing Choice Voucher Specialist, you will be instrumental in assisting clients with navigating the HCV housing program. Reporting to the Housing Program Supervisor, your role involves evaluating applications, ensuring compliance with Fair Housing regulations, and providing crisis intervention when necessary. Your skills in negotiation and landlord-tenant law, enabling you to effectively mediate between landlords and tenants. With a focus on motivational interviewing and property management, you will help individuals secure stable housing and improve their quality of life. Work involves performing specialized work in processing applications for eligibility and continued assistance. Position involves intensive interviewing to gather information to determine eligibility, verification of information, and assisting with placement for low-income families as well as in home visits and property inspections. Knowledge of HUD regulations and Lead Paint regulations is a plus. Applicant must have the ability to effectively communicate with landlords, participants and co-workers. Prior experience in Public Housing/ HCV best, private sector experience a plus, but will train a qualified applicant if no prior experience.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma (or GED). Some experience in public housing/assisted housing, or progressive work experience in a social service environment would be a plus; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A valid drivers license is required for employment.
